Far too many Canadians living with MS can’t access the care and housing support they require – in home or in long-term care (LTC). People with MS want to live at home and be active participants in their communities. However, home care services and assistance with personal care vary significantly by region, have long wait times, and limited access. For those unable to remain in their home, there are few appropriate LTC facilities for people with MS and life is very difficult for those living in facilities that are not designed for their needs.

We call on all governments to work together to:

• Invest in providing care and housing that focuses on options, diversity, and choice to allow people living with MS to stay in their own homes and communities for as long as possible.
• Create an age-appropriate care and housing approach for long-term care that specifically includes the perspectives of young adults with MS.
